Announcements
Trina Pulver: There
are membership cards on the tables. Think of someone you have not seen for a
while and would like to see more of. Give them a card and suggest they come
to a meeting and find out what Kiwanis is about.
Tammy Langham: I have
an update on the Fence Committee. I have a couple of new quotes and
they are getting a bit lower. Our first committee meeting is scheduled for
8:00am next week Friday, Feb 3, at the Maplewood location on Cedar Street.
Jim Ruff, a Rescue Mission Director, will be working with us and we are
pleased about that. If you have questions contact me, I will be emailing the
committee with the date and time.
Brandie Ekren: Bill
Maher has provided an insert for your roster book with information on our
new members. They are on the tables, please take one.
The South Lansing Club is
changing their meeting location and will be meeting at the Flapjack
Restaurant on Feb 10th and 17th. They will advise us
when they have decided on a permanent location.
Next week, Monday Tuesday and
Wednesday, is Texas Hold’em. The shift schedule is filled and copies are on
the tables. If anyone wants to split a shift, contact Jim Dalton. Norm will
attach a copy of the shift schedule to his weekly Krier email.
Bill has two tickets for the
MSU/Penn State women’s basketball game on Sunday for anyone that wants them.
They are free!
For the Board of Directors…
we would like to have a short meeting before you leave.
And the last thing…as you
know Bob Holden is in Arizona receiving treatment and we want to continue to
keep in touch with cards or phone calls.
Editors note: I spoke to Bob
after the meeting today and he said to be sure to let everyone know how
much he appreciates the cards and phone calls… he can’t get too many.

Happy Bucks
Tim Hoffman, I have a happy
buck for my daughter Kathy who made her thespian debut last Friday and
Saturday night in a American Teenage Werewolf eighth grade play.
Norm Miller, a happy buck for
Harry Kost who I spoke to a couple of days ago and he asked me to send
greetings to all his Kiwanis friends.
Jim McCartney, a happy buck
for the football recruit who is from Beaverton, Oregon, Sunset High School
where my son-in-law has been a teacher for 30 years. My other 4 happy bucks
are for Tom Izzo’s 400 wins.
Trina Pulver, here’s one for
Brandie for conducting the meeting today.
Brandie Ekren, I have a happy
buck for this, the first Kiwanis meeting I have chaired.
Songs
Bob Nelson served as song leader
today with "Show Your K" (somewhat of an adventure) and "Smile."
Program
Steve Brennan, who has served us
well as Program Chairperson for January, introduced his speaker for today,
Marybeth Bayer. Ms. Bayer is a long term care insurance specialist with LTC
Financial Partners. She discussed the growing need for long term care with
the advancing age of baby boomers, as well as the options and the cost.
Pot Winner
Yvonne Groak was
today’s drawing winner and she drew a 10.
