Guests today included four new members to be inducted April 29, Brandi Ekren, John Folina, Dan Barnes and William Fluke.

 Announcement

Lou Leitz: We will be doing an inter-club next Tuesday noon, Apr 20, at Eaton Rapids.

To car-pool be at the Flapjack Restaurant on Waverly Road at 11:30am.

Yvonne Groak: I received a memorial gift in memory of Florence Polack. Florence, who passed away recently, was the wife of long time member Jack Polack.

Bob Nelson: The Youth Services and Public Relations/Publicity Committees will meet here at 11:30am two weeks from today, April 29th.

Dennis Churchill: I have some pictures taken at our Prayer Breakfast that I would like to share with you.

Rod Conrad: There is a conflict on Tuesday so the Human and Spiritual Aims Committee will meet next Monday, 7:30am, Flapjack Restaurant, Waverly Road.

Bill Maher: The Indoor Yard Sale is being set up now at the Faith United Methodist Church, 4301 S Waverly Road. Sale days are Friday and Saturday. They need more volunteers and donations.

The inter-club from Division 3 next week has been cancelled. We may have a Division 16 inter-club but it is not final.

At 11:00am on Apr 29 Clarence Smith will conduct an orientation for our new members. We will also have induction of the new members at our meeting on that day.

The Golf Outing Committee had a planning meeting this morning for the Michigan District Golf Outing which our Club will be hosting at Royal Scot on June 7. We are looking for tee and green advertisers, talk to your business friends. We need help from the entire membership for this project.

Jim McCartney was the song leader today. "Wait ‘till the Sun Shines Nellie" and "Smile" were the songs.

Happy Bucks

Bryan Crenshaw, a happy buck for our speaker, who I have known personally for several years, a happy buck for the Indoor Yard Sale, a happy buck for my nephew safely back from Florida, a sad buck for the 3 year old son of one of my friends who was diagnosed with cancer.

Bob Nelson, a happy buck for our speaker and also one for my friend Jim Murner who is here today.

Yvonne Groak, I have a happy buck because yesterday I got on my riding tractor for the first time this spring… and it started.

Greg Hagbom, a happy buck for Jim Murner who is sometime my tennis adversary and sometime my partner.

Sue Devon, a happy buck for our 4 new members here today, I want to welcome you and say we are really happy to have you.

Brandi Ekren, a happy buck for the warm welcome we have received.

Harry Kost, a happy buck to be in the clear after Apr 15, looks like I may get a little money back and also for all the new members.

Program

Bob Nelson introduced today’s speaker, Kurt Steudle. Mr. Steudle is Director of the Michigan Department of Transportation, and is active in many highway industry groups. He is a Kiwanis supporter, his son is currently a Key Club member. In his talk he discussed highway construction and maintenance, the current shortfall in funding, safety improvements and much more.

Pot Winner

The winner today was Greg Hagbom. It might not be enough to fund his sons wedding since he failed to draw the joker.
