 Announcements

Dennis Churchill: Fifty four people attended our Prayer Breakfast last week with visitors from six area Clubs. We hope to have more Clubs participate next year. A total of $80 was collected for the benefit of the Salvation Army.

Bill Maher: I have a sign-up sheet for the Michigan District Golf Outing on June 1 at the Red Hawk Golf Club in East Tawas. Six members have signed up so far. I need to get the reservations in by May 21.

April is "Skip a Meal" month when you will be charged for an extra meal on your quarterly statement. The money goes to the Kiwanis International Foundation’s Children’s Fund.

Clyde Flory: I would like to make you aware of the speakers I have scheduled for our May meetings. See the listing above. My hope is we support them with good attendance and bring a friend or two as well.

Larry Pingel: Those signed up to help serve lunch at the City Rescue Mission, 607 E. Michigan just east of the Ball Park, next Monday are: Rod Conrad, Jo Grubbe, Tom Renton, Clarence Smith and Bob Nelson. Be there at 12:00 noon, you will be out by 1:00pm. May is filled, I will have a June sign-up sheet in a couple of weeks.

Carla Johnston: At the spring divisional meeting recently our Club received several awards… Round Robin Inter-Club, Builders Club, Key Club, Club Rating and Children’s Miracle Network.

Yvonne Groak: Alan Bard, Mark Eitrem and Nancy Pearsall all have April birthday’s. None are here today but we wish them a Happy Birthday and will be enjoying a desert in their honor.

Happy Bucks

Bob Nelson, a happy buck for all those that helped out with the Kids Against Hunger, we had a great turn out. A second happy buck for our speaker a fellow volunteer at Ele’s Place.

Tom Renton, a happy buck for the great weather last week in Florida, another for MSU’s great basketball season and a third is for our guest speaker.

Carla Johnston, a happy buck for my daughter who is being married in Austin, Texas. I have having some stuff done and won’t be back here until June.

Jim McCartney, thank goodness it is April 16th.

Clyde Flory, 3 happy bucks… for the WJR Paul W Smith interview with Virg Bernero, for a trip to Boston to stay with our two grandkids and after that the Michigan Medical Society will be honoring those who have been out of medical school for 50 years and that includes me.

Larry Pingel, a happy buck for my daughter who is expecting this fall and another for our speaker, we support Ele’s place at our office.

Gary Brya, a happy buck to be back from an extended vacation in Florida, nice to see your friendly faces.

Dennis Churchill, a happy buck for my daughter who lost her husband last fall and is moving to suburb of Austin, Tx the first of June.

Harry Kost, a happy buck for a visit to Chicago on Easter with my granddaughter and great granddaughter and another for my cataract surgery yesterday. You all look a lot brighter today.

Program

Tom Renton, program chairman for April, introduced his speaker for the day Ginny Anderson. Ms Anderson works with Ele’s Place a nonprofit organization providing support for grieving children and their families. She discussed many of their programs and the opportunities for volunteers to assist.
