Two
inter-club visits today, 13 members from the Lansing Golden K and 6 members
from the South Lansing Club.
Richard
Peffly, a director at the Board of Water Light, was a guest of Sue Devon.

Family
members of Harry Kost in attendance today were his wife Phyllis, Jim and

Last but
not least , our visitors today included Joan VanArsdalen, Governor of the
Michigan District, and her husband Bill.

Harry
Kost – Outstanding Kiwanian
Carla
Johnston announced today was a special day to recognize the outstanding
achievements of Harry Kost as a Kiwanis member for nearly 50 years.
Lt
Governor Ruth Milbourne told us every Division has several hero’s over
the years and today she added Harry Kost for his many accomplishments.
District
Governor Joan VanArsdalen noted Harry joined the Lansing Kiwanis Club in
1964. He served as President in 1978/79 and in 1987 he was instrumental in
forming the Lansing Golden K. In the same year he was elected Lt Governor of
Division 16. In 1994 Harry was given the George Hixon award. Harry was
presented a pin for having recruited over 100 new Kiwanis members.
Charles
Seeley, from Lansing Golden K, commented on what Harry has meant to that
Club from it’s founding to the present.
Jim Heynes,
from Detroit No.1, mentioned the work Harry has done at the District level.
Jim Kost,
spoke of Harry always being committed to whatever he did, work, church,
Kiwanis, husband and father.
Happy
Bucks
Because of
time constraints there were no Happy Bucks today, however Bill Maher did
have a 50/50 drawing and the winners were Gary Brya and Rob Haney.
Program
Bob
Nelson introduced today’s speaker, Clint Canaday. Mr. Canaday is a Lansing
attorney and spoke today of the various Ingham County Court’s and the
function of each. He is currently seeking election to Ingham County (30th)
Circuit Court.
