The Noon News

Dan Barnes did the news. A painting worth tens of millions was stolen in France, the Tigers are on a 10 game west coast raod trip and the Board of Water and Light Chili Cook Off is June 4.

 Announcements

Dick Skinner presented Aprons to Trina Pulver, and Rob Haney. Don’t for get to sign them.

 Lou Lietz announced an interclub for next Monday to East Lansing.

 Bill Maher had a signup sheet for anyone able to work on the Children’s Miracle Network Tele A Thon on June 5th at 9:30 a.m.

 Bill Maher still looking for anyone able to assist on the golf outing on Monday June 7th at Royal Scot.

 Larry Pingel had a signup sheet to serve lunch at the Rescue Mission for the upcoming quarter starting in July. Thanks to everyone for filling the sheet.

 Larry Pingel was taking names for the Tiger Game trip on August 21st. 33 tickets out of 40 are spoken for, If you want to go please call or email Larry with your request. Cost is $75 per person and provides for the bus transportation and game ticket.

 Yvonne Groak, There will be a Community Services Committee meeting next Thursday before the meeting here at 11:30.

 Harry Kost, Past out coupons for 2 free dinners at Emil’s to Carla Johnston, Sue Devon, & Darren Dusso for recruiting new members.

 Yvonne Groak also did May birthdays. In attendance was Gill Hill (glad to be a member and looking forward to many more years of membership), and Charlie Reifsnyder (he and Em really enjoyed their time in Florida with friends over the winter).

 Also with Birthdays in May: Bob Holden and Jim Kost although neither were in attendance today. Happy birthday to all.

Yvonne led everyone in a resounding rendition of Happy Birthday Dear Kiwanian’s.

Happy Bucks

Rob Haney recently had lunch with Nicholas who is doing well. 

Bryan Crenshaw ,1- for today’s speaker Bob Barnhart, 1- The Key Leader Program, 1 sad buck for Austin Cook resigning from the Key Leader program. 

Chuck Reifsnyder, his granddaughter will be on TV this weekend in the Pacific Rim Gymnastikc competition, Channel 10 Saturday 1:30.

Jo and for her recent trip to the dentist at which she learned a new joke. Sorry it isn’t included, I can’t write that fast.

Jeff glad for everyone giving happy bucks and his enjoyment seeing Larry trying to keep up.

Program

Chairperson Bryan Crenshaw introduced Bob Barnhart who is with Church World Services. Bob is the Regional Director of Church World Services in charge of a Multi State area consisting of MI and several surrounding states.

 

Bob gave a nice history of Church World Services which began in 1947 and performs many services around the world providing relieve from starvation, provides clean water, and job training opportunities. Their project that our club is most familiar with is they organize and run CROP WALK. Rod Conrad has worked on organizing this event in the Lansing area for many years. Michigan is the number one state when raising funds through the CROP Walks. This year CROP Walk will be held on 10/10.

Pot Winner

Dick Skinner did the drawing and the winner was Darren Dusso. Darren did not win the big pot when he drew the 3 of clubs.
