June 24, 2010 Meeting, Bob Nelson presiding

Noon News

Dan Barnes, with a deep summer tan, delivered all the world news including news of a tennis match at Wimbleton that was still going on in the third day of play.

 Announcements

Dan Barnes: Sue Devon asked me to announce the Membership Committee will meet here next Thursday, July 1, at 11:30am.

Bob Nelson: Carla and Sue are frolicking at the Kiwanis International Convention in Las Vegas. We wish them the best out there and they will be back next week.

Our new member Alex Norton is here today, we welcome Alex and he has his apron he would like to get signed by all the members.

On Sunday, July 11, Division 16 is hosting a family picnic at Leland Park in Mason from 1:30pm to 5:00pm. If you are interested in attending see Bill Maher.

Ray Easton: Our next Texas Hold‘em event is next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at Tripper’s. We need to move the time some of you have signed up for to fill all the shifts. See me and we will get everyone scheduled.

Harry Kost: I was asked awhile back to check on programs at Turkeyville. The show this summer is in memory of Johnny Cash with a lot of his music. There seems to be a lot of interest by many of members and the consensus seems to be Friday night, July 30. I will get more information and have definite plans next week.

Yvonne Groak: Today we honor the June birthdays of Harry Kost and John Polino. Harry was present, commented on his family Kiwanis experiences and was serenaded with "Happy Birthday."

Songs

Bill Maher leading, everyone singing "Keep it Booming" and "Smile."

Happy Bucks

Jim McCartney, my happy buck is for our visit to Stratford yesterday, we were in the theatre when the earthquake occurred and we didn’t know about it until this morning. I also have 3 happy bucks for the kids at Montrose schools who presented me with a framed montage of their thank you letters for the dictionaries we have delivered there.

Jo Grubbe, a happy buck for the US soccer team, one for Nicholas… I had an email from him and he sends his greetings and another for the inter-club I missed on Friday.

Harry Kost, a happy buck for my recent birthday and a check for the Endowment Fund and if you are curious it is for $87.

Bob Holden, 2 happy bucks for my two grandsons who both made the hockey traveling teams. The older one, who is 13, will be going to Minnesota, Denver, New Mexico and Chicago. The younger one, 6, only goes as far as Chicago. Going to be expensive for the parents.

Dick Skinner, a buck for a skinnerism… and a good one too.

Ray Easton, a happy buck to be here and see all you guys and for all your help with next weeks Texas Hold’em.

Bob Nelson, I have a happy buck for Larry Willhite, a former member, who I played golf with the other day. He sends his greetings.

Trina Pulver, I have one for our speaker, thank you for being here and a second one for Dick Skinner who filled in for me last week.

Dan Barnes, a happy buck for the Jimmy Buffet concert I went to on Tuesday.

Program

Trina Pulver introduced Anthony Snyder, an attorney speaking today on Will’s and Trust’s and the importance of a power of attorney.

Pot Winner
