Happy Bucks

Jim McCartney, I have a happy buck for my friend Roger who helped me out when I had a 5 week month last January and he has done a fine job with the 5 weeks in July.

Roger Grove, I have a happy buck for my last week of a 5 week month and another for my friend and speaker today, Don LeDuc.

Larry Pingel, a happy buck for the realization that, now that all our kids are out of the house, when you get a phone call and the first word is "Daddy" it is going to be about money.

Jo Grubbe, I have a happy buck for my daughter who just returned from a week vacation on Mackinac Island.

Bob Nelson, a happy buck for a great trip my wife and I took to Oregon. I was recently interviewed by Jack Ebling and Michael Patrick Shields and if you want to know what I said be here next week.

Jeff Russell, I have a happy buck for our summer camp and the fact all the kids we took came back.

Rick Librizzi, along with fellow alumni John Roy Castillo I want to welcome Professor LeDuc. If he would let me graduate any one of you could graduate.

Clyde Flory, a happy buck for the last two weeks spent at our time share in the Traverse City area and a sad buck because my son in Boston is having a transport company come in and pick up my beloved 1968 Mustang.

Harry Kost, I have the programs for August and to start the month off our speaker next week will be Bob Nelson speaking on energy in Michigan. Don’t miss it.

Jim McCartney, a couple happy bucks for my granddaughter, a graduate of the University of Tennessee who was in Atlanta looking at Law Schools and met a young man from Cooley Law School. He was so impressed with the Cooley program he wanted to tell others. This same granddaughter last spring joined the Obama staff in South Carolina and now will be on the staff of whoever is going to be his vice presidential pick.

John Roy Castillo, a happy buck for Dean LeDuc for letting me teach at Cooley Law School… if I can teach there anyone can teach there.

Bill Maher, I have a happy buck for my Skinnerism about the Irishman and his potato garden. For the details, call Bill.

Dennis Churchill, a happy buck for my grandson who is heading for Chicago for his third year in school there and my granddaughter who is going back to Manhattan for her second year. I have a very sad buck for my 48 year old son-in-law who unfortunately has cancer, has had radiation and chemo therapy and not much more can be done. We would appreciate your remembering him in your prayers.

Program

In his 5th and final week as program chairman Roger Grove, who has provided a month of interesting speakers, introduced yet another Don LeDuc. Mr. LeDuc is President and Dean of Thomas M Cooley Law School, the largest law school in the country. Among other things Mr. LeDuc commented on the many service programs Cooley is involved in such as providing legal services to seniors and military personnel.
