On Sept 25 there will be a joint
meeting with the Mason Kiwanis Club, at 315 Kiwanis Drive in Mason. At this
meeting new officers will be inducted and an exchange of the Lt Governor’s
banner from Liz Luttrell-Wilson to Bob Nelson, our new Div 16 Lt Governor.
This will be a dinner meeting starting at 6:00pm, $10 per person, spouses
are invited. There will be no noon meeting that day.

Dennis
Churchill: I have provided
a sign-up sheet for greeters and invocation for the next three
months. Let’s get all the weeks filled today.
My wife is
working on a Boarshead program, a play
called "All Childish Things." It will be playing in October, join us it
should be a lot of fun.
Clarence
Smith: Today is the last day for
committee chairman to turn in their budgets for the coming year. Any
committees not having turned in their budget as of today, will have a budget
assigned by the Board.
Bill
Maher: On the tables are sheets
listing the committee assignments for 2008-2009. In most cases they you
are assigned the committee’s you requested, in others the assignments were
made where openings still existed. Take one of these sheets for your
reference.
The sheet
giving you the opportunity to correct personal information
for the new roster book is also being circulated.
We will be honoring Jim Kost with
a Past Presidents dinner at the Hall of Fame Café (formerly Damon’s)
1601 W Lake Lansing Road on Oct 8th at 6:00pm. If you plan to
attend, sign up on the sheet provided on the tables.
The Noon News with
Nicholas Ferreri
Governor Granholm takes up an
acting role as she stands in for Sarah Palin in Joe Biden’s preparation for
the Vice Presidential debate. The Governor plans to spend four days with
Biden before this debate on Oct 2nd. Do you have old electronic
equipment you would like to get rid of ? The City of Lansing is having a one
day recycling event at their transfer station at 530 E South St this
Saturday from 8:00am until noon. Computer’s, monitor’s, printers, TV’s,
stereo’s, VCR’s, microwave’s and most other home electronic’s will be
accepted.

Happy Bucks
Bill Maher,
I have a happy buck for our speaker today, Marc Shaberman, who will be
talking to us about stem cell research.
Jeff Lorencen, I have a sad
buck on this the anniversary of September 11th.
Terry Holzhausen, I have a
buck for the same reason and I understand the two Presidential candidates
will be at ground zero on this anniversary.
Harry Kost, a happy buck
because we have not had another incident like that since.
Bob Nelson, I have a happy
buck for the same reason.
Program
Bill Maher, program chairman of
the week, introduced today’s speaker Marc Shaberman. Mr. Shaberman is a
retired attorney with a life long interest in science. He was speaking on
behalf of the Michigan Citizens for Stem Cell Research and Cures. His
remarks included information on stem cells, both adult and embryonic, their
differences and potential uses. He also compared Michigan law’s regarding
the use of stem cells to those of other states.
Pot Winner

today but the joker eluded him.
