Meeting
Guests
There were no outside guests
today, but we were glad to welcome back Lou Leitz and Rick Librizzi, both of
whom are recovering from recent surgery.
The Noon News with
Nicholas Ferreri
Some interesting news items like
a Florida lady’s lost dog that showed up 1200 miles away in Chicago and the
young lady who found $1,000 in a used video she bought at a Salvation Army
Thrift Store and promptly returned it to the store manager. Our nice weather
is about to end with cooler weather forecast for the weekend.
Announcements
Bob Nelson: Clarence and
I met International President Don Canaday last Friday when he visited the
District office in Mason. Click here for:

Division 16 has decided to hold a
Rummage Sale on March 7th. We will start collecting for this sale
very soon and I will be advising you of the details. The proceeds from the
Rummage Sale will go to this year’s Governor’s Project which is the "Kids
for Hunger" event and that will take place on April 3rd.
Terry Holzhausen: As you
know for the past few years we have provided 100 turkey dinners to needy
families in the area. This year we have a budget problem and are going to be
about $1,000 short. I am checking to see if we can get help from the
Endowment Fund and also would be open to any donations for this effort.
Lance Lynch: We are
coming up on the Holiday Season again and if the Club again asks members for
individual donations for the Salvations Army, I will again accept the
challenge to match those donations up to $500. In a unanimous vote the
members voted to accept Lance’s generous challenge.
Yvonne Groak: Next week
our speaker is from the Lansing Food Bank and I would like to take up our
monthly collection today so I can present her a check next Thursday.
Rod Conrad: I have the
bell ringing schedule for Saturday, Dec 13th. Sign up for the
shift of your choice. The time slots are for two hours but they can be split
into one hour shifts.
Songs
Roger Grove did his usual fine
job of leading the singing of "Keep it Booming" and "Smile," this week with
no help from a pianist.
Happy Bucks
Bob Nelson, a happy buck for
Roger Grove who I saw in the Lansing Symphony Choir Saturday night and
unlike a supreme court candidate he did not fall asleep the whole 2 hours.
Another happy buck for the
election on Tuesday which was great no matter who you supported. The
enthusiasm was tremendous, my son drove to Grant Park in Chicago to watch
the acceptance speech of President Elect Obama.
Dennis Churchill, I join Bob
with a happy buck for the election. My grandson was also at Grant Park along
with 250,000 other people.
Chuck Reifsnyder, I have a
happy buck for Rick Librizzi who is here and recovering from his recent
heart surgery.
Jeff Russell, a happy buck
for missing the last couple of weeks… we were celebrating the birth of our
first grandchild, a baby daughter.
Ev Beemer, I have a happy
buck because we are leaving for Florida next week and an unhappy buck since
I won’t be seeing you all for a few months.
Terry Holzhausen, a happy
buck for all the Thanksgiving basket donations that I have already received…
only a few minutes after my request.
Bill Maher, a happy buck for
our speaker today Bran Vauter. Always nice to have your speakers show up.
Larry Pingel, a happy buck
for Bill Maher our program chairman, nice to see him wear a tie 4 times a
year.
Program
Bill Maher introduced his first
speaker for the month, Brad Vauter. Mr. Vauter is an attorney and a member
of The Legal Hotline for Michigan Seniors. This organization provides free
legal advise by phone to seniors and their caregivers on such issues as
housing, powers of attorney, wills, Medicare/Medicaid, Social Security, etc.
