Meeting
Announcements
Bill Maher: The Club
Meetings Committee will meet here next Thursday, Dec 4, at 11:30am. I
will send a reminder email to all members of this committee.
The Young Children Priority
One Committee will start collecting toys for "Toys for Tots." Bring an
unwrapped toy next week or to the Christmas party on Dec 11. We need to
complete this collection by Dec 14. The Young Children Priority One
Committee will meet here at 11:30am on Dec 18.
Jo Grubbe: We made the
news: News of the installation of our Officers was in last Monday’s State
Journal. We also got our meeting information in for this week.
Nicholas Ferreri: And we
got more publicity. Video of our Thanksgiving Basket assembly at Hildebrand
was on channel 10 last night at 5:00pm and on channel 7 at 5:30pm. I would
like to thank all who helped with the Thanksgiving Basket project at all the
different locations from last Friday until they were distributed yesterday.
100 families were given a basket which included a turkey and all the
provisions for a complete Thanksgiving dinner.
Bob Nelson: I was at the
Grand Ledge Club on Monday and they mentioned Dick Skinner had asked their
President if we could borrow their rubber ducks for our planned fundraiser
next year. There was some consternation about this but I was able to
negotiate a deal by agreeing to give them a percentage of the take.
Clarence Smith: The
Board of Directors will meet here next Tuesday, Dec 2, at noon.
Sign up sheets are going around
for our Christmas Dinner Meeting at the Spartan Hall of Fame Café on
Dec 11 starting at 6:30pm. If you have not signed up please do so.
We have the Salvation Army
Kettle here today and will pass it around for your donations.
Nicholas Ferreri
with the News
Lots of news including a soggy
story of Wisconsin man who received a $3,000 water bill after his pipes
froze causing a 44,000 cubic feet of water to flow through his meter. Area
residents raised more than enough to cover his bill, he is giving the excess
to the Salvation Army. The Thanksgiving weather is looking good but some
snow is forecast for the weekend.
Songs
Bob Nelson led the singing of
"Battle Hymn of the Republic" with some inspiring accompaniment from Clyde
Flory at the piano.
Happy Bucks
Bob Nelson, a happy buck for
the publicity our Club received this week and also for gas at $1.43
