December 17, 2009 Meeting

Announcements

Bob Nelson: We are still a little short on contributions for the Thanksgiving baskets. Jo is going to contribute the pot to that effort today. If you make this donation to the Endowment Fund by the end of the year it will be tax deductable for 09.

Jo Grubbe: I received a $100 check from Ev Beemer for the Salvation Army. He sends Holiday Greetings from warm sunny Florida.

Including Lance's generous $500 donation we collected $1,210 for the Salvation Army.

Yvonne Groak: Today we are honoring the December birthdays of Ev Beemer, Greg Hagbom, Lou Leitz and Lance Lynch. None were present so no birthday cake today.

Bill Maher: A reminder the Christmas Party will be here tomorrow evening at 6:00pm in our regular meeting room. We would like members to bring canned food for the Food Bank.

Carla Johnston: There will be no meeting next week. Our next meeting will be on Thursday, Dec 31. Two new members will be inducted at that meeting.

Don't forget to stop in to see Miller Perry. He is at Bickford Assisted Living, 3830 Okemos Rd, Okemos. After bell ringing on Saturday might be a good time.

Nicholas and the News

A story today of a suspected bank robber who mailed the money back to the bank, minus a 20% shipping and handling charge. Cold and snow showers for the weekend.

Happy Bucks

Bob Nelson, I have a happy buck for Lance Lynch for all his help with the Salvation Army, and a Merry Christmas to everybody.

Bob Holden, a happy buck for the seven of us that were at the Golden K for a inter-club yesterday. We had lots of fun, everyone got a gift and after all the swapping I wound up with a set of candles.

Program

Jo Grubbe introduced today's speaker Tammy Tyler-Howe. Ms. Tyler-Howe is associated with Tom's Western Store and spoke today about the "2010 Everything Equine" program on March 12 at the MSU Pavilion. This program is presented by the Michigan Horse Council and Tom's Western Store. They host 300 2nd-5th graders at this event and are looking for volunteers to help with hosting these children. tammy.lynn@ yahoo.com
