he spent a long winter vacation in
race and became an honorary musher. He will share his experiences as a

celebrating it's 100th anniversary. Bruce is known
around the world for trips
his troop has taken and as the founder of Michigan International Camporee. He
puts the
"out"
in scouting into practice.

Although Nicholas' computer is
recovering and not up to par he was able to bring us an interesting news report
and a list of people with interesting names like Stan Still, Justin Case,
Amanda Huginkiss and Anita Bath. The
weather... snow, maybe as much as 5-6 inches in some areas this afternoon and
tonight.
Announcements
Lou Leitz: I need a few volunteers for an inter-club at the
Mason Golden K next Wednesday, January 13 at 8:30am.
Bob Holden: I have a sample of the shirts for the Kiwanis Golf
Tournament next June. These shirts will
be available, monogrammed with your name and the Kiwanis logo, for $20.
$10 of this is a donation to the
club. Sign up to get one, and wear it when working Texas Hold 'em as well.
Bill Maher: Minutes from the Tuesday Board meeting are on the
tables.
We have again been approached to
sell Lansing Entertainment Books. The books
provide discounts at restaurants, and for other entertainment. They sell for $20 each with $8 going to our
club. If you sell 3 books to one person they get one free. I have them here,
take some when you leave.
Carl Johnston: I have the names of a couple of people who would like
to speak to our Club. If any program chairmen are interested let me know.

Larry Pingel, a happy buck to see Dick Skinner here today because
yesterday I received an email saying Dick Skinner had passed. It turns out a lady in our office had
misinterpreted an obituary she saw in the paper for a Max Skinner. Like I said Dick, I am very glad to see you
here today.
Jim McCartney, I have a happy buck for my speaker who you will
hear from in a few minutes. I had a good Christmas in
Chuck Reifsnyder, the Greater Lansing Sports Magazine put out
a list of the top athletes in the
Lance Lynch, I have a happy buck for the 20 or so people in the
Club that stepped up when contributions were needed for the Salvation Army and
also to cover the expense of our Thanksgiving baskets. I think that speaks well of this Club.
Program
Jim McCartney is program chairman for January
and his speaker today was Joanne Harvey. Ms Harvey holds several degrees and is
a certified genealogical researcher. In her talk today she discussed the
resources and techniques available for genealogical research.
