For a decade he spent a long winter vacation in Alaska supporting the Iditarod Sled-Dog

race and became an honorary musher. He will share his experiences as a volunteer.

Nicholas' computer is still 'kaput' but he brought us examples of amusing conversation between computer users and tech support... compliments of Chuck Reifsnyder.

Carla Johnston: The Youth Services Committee will meet next Thursday, Jan 21 at 11:30am. Bob Nelson will be sending committee members an agenda early next week.

If you haven't signed up for a Kiwanis shirt, you can do it today.

Take some of the entertainment coupon books in the rear of the room. We are selling them for $20, $8 goes to our Club.

Sue Devon: The Membership Committee will meet next Thursday at 11:15am

Rod Conrad: The Human and Spiritual Values Committee will meet next Wednesday, Jan 20 at the Frandor Flapjack Restaurant at 7:30am.

Nicholas Ferreri: I was at the Eastern Key Club meeting yesterday. We made the "Member of the Month" awards for the last couple of months. They are working on several projects including raising money for St. Jude, a fundraiser for Haiti, project with the City Rescue Mission and others.

Happy Bucks

Larry Pingel, I have a happy buck for Bill's optimism in picking that song. I thought there would be a band of angels coming after him.

Jim McCartney, I have a happy buck for Joel and his dedication to the Key Club at Eastern High School. It's fantastic and I know he has been doing it for over 15 years. And a dollar for our speaker who we will be hearing from shortly.

Jim Kost, as a graduate of Eastern High in 1972 I have a happy buck for Joel and the members of the Key Club there.

Bryan Crenshaw, I have a buck for the Key Club, a buck for Nicholas' jokes, one for the coupon books and 2 to be home from the nursing home.

Clyde Flory, I have a happy buck to be back. As you know we are baby sitting with our grandchildren while their mother is in the hospital. She had a bone marrow transplant and seems to be doing fairly well. My second happy buck is for her continuing optimism and great sense of humor. She said the DNA in my body is going to remain the same but the DNA of my blood will be that of my donor, my sister Debbie. Sooo.... if I should chose a life of crime, and there is no evidence except blood, that means Debbie will be the one in the slammer. An inspiration to all, we wish her well.

Rob Haney, a couple of happy bucks, I had lunch Tuesday with Miller. He is doing real well. The second one is for being told yesterday I am going to be a grandfather for the first time.

Nicholas, my happy buck is for the Key Club being here today and for all the projects that they do.

James McCartney, program chairman, introduced his speaker for the day Kate White. Ms. White is Exceutive Director of Elder Law of Michigan, a non-profit organization that provides information, legal advice and professional services to the elderly and those with disabilities.
