January 21, 2005 Meeting

Guests

Lt Governor Ruth Milbourne and 3 members from South Lansing were inter-club visitors today.

Rev. Marty DeBow, pastor of Asbury United Methodist Church, was a guest of Jim McCartney.

The Noon News

Nicholas with his usual interesting and humorous stories like how people react differently to temperature depending where they are.  At 35 degrees in New Your, landlords finally turn up the heat. -- in Michigan we have the last cookout. At -50 degrees hell freezes over -- in Michigan the Lions win the Super Bowl.

But Nicholas also had bad news... for us.  In mid February he is accepting a new career opportunity in Fort Wayne and will be leaving us.  We thank him for the outstanding work he has done for our Club during his time here and wish him well in his new endeavor.

 Announcements

Lt Gov Ruth Milbourne: The Spring Divisional Meeting will be Mar 12, the cost will be approximately $27.  It will be held at the MSU Kellogg Center.

It is time to sign up for the International Convention in Las Vegas, June 24-27.  If you sign up before Jan 31 you will save money.  We have a lady from our division running for office and she needs our support.

The District Convention will be in Traverse City in August.

The Mid Winter Conference is Feb 20 in Mt Pleasant.

The Rummage Sale this year will be chaired by Phyllis Montague from the Mason Golden K.. It will be on Mar 19th and 20th.

Sue Devon: The Membership Committee is planning a "Bring a Friend to Lunch" day either the first or second week in March.  Think about bringing a guest and we will try to have an interesting speaker and hope it will result in some new members. We will have the final date soon.

Carla Johnston: I have an email from Roger Donaldson saying he would like us to know the Dimondale School Business Alliance is holding a Las Vegas night.  I have some fliers here if you are interested.

Songs

Bob Nelson bravely led the singing of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and "Smile."

Happy Bucks

Bob  Nelson,  a happy buck for my visit with the Mulders in Key West. Glenn has a new boat , I have pictures of it. It was washed up near his sea wall and contained 10 Cubans. The Cubans got to stay in the USA and Glenn has a new boat.

Bryan Crenshaw, happy bucks for a successful visit to the dentist this morning, some bargains I picked up at Target and for the Eastern Key Club.

Ray Easton, a happy buck for Nicholas... I switched to channel 10 because of him but now I guess I will go back to channel 6 and I will probably have to do our Noon News again.

Ruth Milbourne, a happy buck to be able to join you lovely people for lunch.

Bill Maher, I have a happy buck for Bob Nelson and a unforgettable performance.

SL Inter-clubber, I have a happy buck because your Club meets at noon, not like the Club Ruth took us to last week that met at 7:00 in the morning.

Jo Grubbe, I have one for Nicholas, we are going to miss him and he better write.

Lance Lynch, I am not going to give one for Nicholas who is abandoning fleet, but I have one for Karol and I celebrating our 51st anniversary.  The Best to Karol and Lance.
