 Announcements

Bob Holden: I have some flyers for the District Golf Outing we are sponsoring on June 7. The cost is $80 per person and that includes the golf, dinner and a $55 golf shirt.

Carla Johnston: The Rummage Sale that was scheduled for this month has been postponed to April 14–17.  Please note if you have signed up for that.

The Spring Divisional meeting is on Friday, March 12 at the Kellogg Center. I think we have 4 or 5 people planning to attend.

Larry Pingel: A sheet is available to sign up to serve lunch at the City Rescue Mission.  We do this the third Monday of each month from noon to 1:00pm. I notice the sheet is pretty well filled. Thank you.

Lou Leitz: We have scheduled and inter-club at Holt on Monday evening Mar 15.  I need 3 or 4 volunteers to attend this dinner meeting.

Dick Skinner: The Spiritual Aims Committee is planning a prayer breakfast here on April 1, everyone and guests are welcome, however we do need to get a head count for our caterer. We will have a sign-up sheet next week.

Rod Conrad: The Spiritual Aims Committee would like to present this $200 check to Roger Donaldson for the Oak Park Branch of the YMCA.  Roger commented the money is used for scholarships, assistance to families that need help paying for memberships and fill other needs.

Bob Nelson: The Youth Services Committee will meet here next Thursday at 11:45am for a joint meeting with the Publicity Committee.

Sue Devon: Next Thursday we will have a Membership Committee meeting here at 11:15am. I would like to invite the new members to join us to help them get involved and understand what we are all about.

Songs

Bill Maher led the singing of “Take Me Down to Kiwanis” and old our favorite “Smile.”

Sue Devon introduced her speaker (and boss) Peter Lark.  Mr. Lark is General Manager of the Lansing Board of Water and Light.  He commented on some of the achievements of the Board, 70th out of 2000 in reliability and the 4th best drinking water in the US.  He also discussed some possible future plans to update their power generation capability.

Larry Pingel was today’s winner, but I think Mary got the money. No joker.
