Bob is good at winning the Jack Pot but his timing is bad… he previously
won a Jack Pot for $37.
Yvonne: I would like to
have a meeting of the Community Services Committee here next Thursday. I hope committee members can be here by
11:30am or a little before.
I received a letter from the
Special Olympics of Michigan seeking volunteers for their track and field
competition at Michigan
State University
on Thursday, May 14. I will have a
sign-up sheet next week for anyone interesting in helping out.
Bill Maher: If anyone else
wants to sign up for the Michigan District
Golf Outing at the Red Hawk Golf Club in East Tawas
on June 1st, let me know. Currently
we have 8 members signed up to go.
Bob Holden: Some information on the Golf Outing, you can all go
with me in my motor home. We will be
coming back the same day.

and with an assist from roving reporter Bob Nelson. Nicholas is
promising great weather for the next few days with temperatures in the 60’s,
70’s and even the 80’s.

Kiwanis” and # 8.
Happy Bucks
Bob Nelson, I have a happy buck for my daughter, who graduated
almost a year ago from Michigan Tech, and was finally able to land a position
as an assistant to a Professor at the University
of Wisconsin, Stevens Point.
Glenn Mulder, a happy buck to be back after a glorious winter in Key West and a sad buck because I came back a
week too early.
Terry Holzhausen, a happy buck for my daughter who last Thursday gave birth to a 9 lb 5 oz
baby boy… our first grandchild.
Jim Kost, a happy buck for my granddaughter who was born on
inauguration day, when I hear this is Obama’s 93rd day I know
exactly how old she is. And a buck for Glenn and Miller, glad to see you both here.
Tom Renton, I have two happy bucks for our guest speakers, Patrice and Susan from
the VFW National Home for Children.
Bill Maher, I have a happy buck because my poker buddies and I
met last night and I had a good night. I
may need the buck back next month.
Program
Tom Renton, April program chairman,
introduced his guest speakers from the VFW National Home for Children, Patrice
Green, Executive Director and Susan Stevens, Public Relations Director. For over 80 years the National Home has cared
for and helped children and families of our nation’s veterans. They are currently caring for 130 children in
40 homes on their campus in Eaton Rapids. There is much more information and suggestions
for those wishing to contribute to this organization on their website at: VFW National Home for
