May 7, 2009 Meeting

 Announcements

Clarence Smith: The Board is continuing the search for a permanent meeting place and  we expect to have this accomplished by the end of the month.

On May 14 we will again meet here at the Salvation Army. On May 21 we will meet at Grumpy’s Restaurant at Mt. Hope and Pennsylvania. On May 28 we will meet at the Eagles Club, 4700 N. Grand River near the airport.

As soon as we have decided on our permanent meeting location Norm will update our “Reasons to Join Kiwanis” tri-fold brochure and have it reprinted.  I would like all our members to have these available for prospective new members.

Today I am making the first announcement of our nominations for year 2009-2010.

President Elect: Nicholas Ferreri – Vice President: Bob Holden – Board of Directors: Yvonne Groak, Richard Borucki, Sue Devon.

One last thing, on the table is a sign-up sheet to help prepare the Kiwanis Float for the Lansing 150 parade on May 16.  The South Lansing Kiwanis is leading this effort and deserves our help as we hope to get an assist from them for our project later this year.

Norm Miller: The annual Safety Patrol Picnic sponsored by the Lansing Area Safety Council will be at Hawk Island Park on Wednesday, May 20.  The Council has again asked us for volunteers to help feed the kids, 8:45am to 12:45pm, and there are sign-up sheets on the tables.

Dennis Churchill: The Human and Spiritual Aims Committee will meet next Tuesday morning , May 12, at the Frandor Flapjack Restaurant at 7:30am.

Yvonne Groak: I would like a meeting of the Community Services Committee here next Thursday at 11:30am.

Bob Nelson: The Membership Committee will meet on Tuesday, May 19th, 7:30am at the Frandor Flapjack.  Members please note.

The Holt Club will be celebrating their 60th anniversary on June 15th , 7:00pm. As their sponsoring Club I hope several of our members will be able to attend.
