Committee which was scheduled for last Friday has been moved to sometime in
July. I will let you know when I have a

We are planning an inter-club at
Eaton Rapids at noon on Tuesday, June 30th. We need 4 or 5 members
to attend.
Clarence
Smith: For your information, the minutes from the last Board
meeting are on the tables.
We are moving along with our plans
for the Kiwanis Activities Tent at the Sept 5th Lansing 150
LaborFest. We met with the South Lansing
Club and the Holt Club and the Delta Township Club will be helping us in
planning and organizing this event. We
welcome anyone interested to join Bob Nelson, Jo
Grubbe and myself on this committee. This is an opportunity to serve Lansing youth, get some
exposure for Kiwanis. There is no expense to the Club, funding is provided by Lansing’s
150 committee.
The Noon News with Nicholas Ferreri
Before
the news we serenaded Nicholas with “Happy Birthday” and thanked his mother for
the delicious cup cakes which she provided for desert.
Always
entertaining news stories like the fish that burped up a watch… still ticking
with the correct time.
Songs
Roger was in charge and Clyde was back at the piano as we sang “Let’s Sing with
Pride” “Boost Kiwanis” and “Smile.”
Happy Bucks
Jim McCartney, our speaker, from the Pork Producers, reminded me of a fundraiser for the
Heart Association in Atlanta
that raised $50,000. The challenge… kiss a pig. And I have $2 for my granddaughter
who will be married on June 21st.
Jim Dalton, a happy buck to introduce myself. My name is Jim
Dalton and I am here to start an attendance streak, one in a
row.
Dick Skinner, a happy buck for my grandson Bobbie who is a high
school student with a 4.0 average.
Clyde Flory, a happy buck for a great trip and some fond memories last week at the 50th
class reunion of my graduating class from John Hopkins
Medical School.
Roger Grove, a happy buck for my recipe for fried pork steak.
Sue Devon, a happy buck for the BWL chili cook-off last Friday. It was a great success, we had 10,000 tickets
printed and had to start recycling them.
All the proceeds to charities.
Jo Grubbe, a happy buck for a great 3 day weekend to Mackinaw Island.
Ev Beemer, and I have a happy buck for
a wonderful 3 week trip to Alaska.
Clarence Smith, I have a happy buck for our speaker and another for Dennis Murchison
visiting us today and I hope he decides to join us.
Nicholas Ferreri, and I have a special happy buck for having my Mom here today.
Program
Carla Johnston introduced her speaker for
today, Mary
Kelpinski. Ms. Kelpinski is the Executive Director of the Michigan Pork
Producers Association and gave us lots of interesting information about pork
and the pork industry and how it impacts the economy.
Pot Winner
For the first time in June, Norm Miller won the pot. The draw… a 7 of hearts.
