The Noon News with Nicholas Ferreri

Nicholas, back from the Nashville Convention and a summer vacation, with more entertaining news stories and the promise of storms on Friday.

Songs

Roger Grove directed  the singing of  “Kiwanis Gang Song” and “Boost Kiwanis” without his pianist Clyde… although we hope he’s back real soon.

Happy Bucks

Roger Grove, my happy buck is for the computer tests I have been taking on the internet.  I am sure my son, a computer engineer who I may have embarrassed in the past, is proud.

Bob Nelson, I have a happy buck, as I was notified this morning I won second place in the State Bar short story contest. I brought it up here because it is based on a speaker we had here at Kiwanis.

Jo Grubbe, I have a sad dollar for the passing of Dan Goff, a very fine gentleman and a member of the South Lansing Kiwanis Club.

Jim McCartney, I have a happy buck because on July 1st I celebrated 59 years of marriage to a wonderful woman. Congratulations, Mary and Jim!

Larry Pingel, a happy buck for my middle daughter who is being married on Friday of next week.  Our youngest daughter got married last year so there has been a lot of wedding talk around our house for the last two years.

Bill Maher, my happy buck is for Hannah’s House and all the good work they do. In October they have “Deserts From Around the World” and it is really great if you like deserts.

Nicholas Ferreri, and I have a happy buck for the Nashville convention and my vacation at home.

Program

Gary Brya introduced today’s speaker Murdock Jimerson, Lansing’s Director of Parks and Recreation. He was accompanied today by Councilman at Large, Brian Jeffries.  The main topic of their discussion was the new South Lansing Community Center which is being built utilizing the building formerly occupied by the Hill Vocational Center on Wise Road.

Pot Winner

A winner every week and this week it is Nicholas Ferreri.  Nicholas drew the 7 of spades.
