July 10, 2008 Meeting
Guests
Joy Schmaul was a guest of Nicholas Ferreri. Joy, one of Nicholas’ best college friends,
is living in Chicago
where she is a high school science teacher.
Announcements
Jim Kost: We still have several months open for 2008-2009
program chairmen. Sign up for a month
and get the schedule completed.
We haven’t taken a collection for
the Food Bank recently, so I would like to do that today.
Larry
Pingel: I have the sign-up sheet for program chairman which I
will be passing around. I am
contemplating having an auction of some kind and the lowest bidders will be
assigned a month as program chairman.
Let’s get the all the months filled.
We are working on the membership
letters. They have been delayed a bit since I was in vacation but will be going
out soon.
The Noon News
Nicholas Ferreri again with today’s news and weather
forecast on this the 192nd day of the year which also is Tom Hanks
52nd birthday. Nicholas also informed us the Oregon balloon-a-tic, reported on last week, landed
safely in Idaho
after drifting 200 miles in his lawn chair kept aloft by 150 helium filled
balloons.
Songs
Bob Nelson led the singing today… “Toot Toot Tootsie, Goodbye” and “Smile.”
Happy Bucks
Larry Pingel, a happy buck for some time spent with our daughter in Milwaukee.
If you ever go to Milwaukee
there are a lot of brewery tours.
Clyde Flory, a happy buck for a children’s church service in Traverse City where the pastor found
chocolate is not the favorite of all kids, some like seaweed and tofu. A second happy buck for the
next two weeks when we will be at our timeshare in Traverse City.
Roger Grove, I have a happy buck for Andrew Jason, from Cooley Law School, who is going to speak to us
about legal assistance for seniors. He
has an ideal age group here.
Glenn Mulder, I have a happy buck because I was able to extricate a black and white
animal from my live trap this morning without getting sprayed.
Nicholas Ferreri, a happy buck for Joy’s visit with us today, and another for some
vacation time scheduled in August.
Bob Holden, an exhausted happy buck for having survived a weekend at the lake with
our family that included 10 grandkids all with ages between 2 and 14.
Jim Kost, a happy buck because my big brother is coming in
from Chicago and when he comes in that means 3 days of golf.
Ev Beemer, I have a happy buck because we just went to see our
fifth great granddaughter who was born the 29th.
Rick Librizzi, a buck for spending the 4th of July
weekend entertaining 2 grandkids with Comcast service out and no TV.
Jim Kost, a happy buck for my daughter who called me on fathers day and told me she is expecting on Feb 10th.
Program
Roger Grove introduced his speaker for
the day Andrew Jason. Mr. Jason
graduated from Cooley
Law School
and spoke to us about Cooley law students and professors who provide help to
senior citizens with their legal problems.
Pot Winner
Today’s pot winner, Gill
