Visiting inter-club today, 4 members from the Holt Kiwanis Club.  The Holt Club extended an invitation to their dinner meeting on Dec 8 when the speaker will be author and historian Marilyn Meyer Culpepper, who has written books on the Civil War and WWII.

Dinner is $8 and starts at 6:30pm.

Clarence Smith: Copies of minutes from this months Board meeting are on the tables for your review.

We will pursue plans for a Christmas party on Thursday, Dec 11, at the Hall of Fame Café on Lake Lansing Road.  More details to come.

Terry Holzhausen: I would like to thank those who have answered my call for money needed for the Thanksgiving Basket program this year. We have over $700 so far and more is coming in today.

Nicholas Ferreri: I have the sign-up sheets for our Thanksgiving Basket project next week.

The Noon News with Nicholas Ferreri

A story of a pilot who suddenly lost his sight while flying in the UK but landed safely with the help of another plane flying by his side and giving him instructions by radio. Also a story of a golfer who had 5 holes in one in one week! And a weather forecast of colder and wetter weather over the weekend.  Now, now Nicholas only forecasts it, he doesn’t make it.

Happy Bucks

Jim McCartney, a happy buck for my red haired granddaughter from South Carolina and 20 others who, on the Friday after the election, had pizza with the Vice-President Elect in Chicago. She started her public service with a Key Club in High School. Another 4 bucks for the amazing visit my wife and I had to Dubai.  I also have a check for Terry and the Thanksgiving baskets.

Jo Grubbe, a happy buck for our former member Tina Lynn who I talked to yesterday.  She sends her greetings to all.

Bob Nelson, a happy buck for our visitors from the Holt Club and a second one for the Mason Club which I visited on Tuesday.  I promised them their guest speaker would be great and he was… it was Nicholas Ferreri.

Harry Kost, a happy buck for our trip to Branson last week and a story I heard from an Irish tenor while there.  Call Harry for details.

Glenn Mulder, a sad buck since I won’t see you for the next few months but a happy buck since my wife and I will be in Key West.  And I have $50 for the turkey fund and $50 for the Salvation Army Red Kettle.

Bill Maher, a happy buck for our speaker and another for all who have served and were honored on Veterans Day this week.

Clyde Flory, a happy buck for our 2 week visit to Boston, and another happy buck for our speedy trip home and made it just in time for our youngest grandson’s first piano recital in Grand Rapids.

Terry Holzhausen, I have a couple of happy bucks to thank everyone for their generous help in funding the Thanksgiving Baskets.

Program

Program chairman Bill Maher introduced today’s speaker Frank Fear.  Dr. Fear is an MSU professor and is currently senior associate dean, College of Agriculture and Natural Resources.  He has also served as President of the Greater Lansing Food Bank and has been on its’ Board for the past 25 years.  The Food Bank and the work they do was the subject of his talk today. Bill presented Dr. Fear with a check from our Club for the Food Bank.
